I arrived back in the City of Brotherly Love Saturday evening to get settled before going back to work and school this week. I had such a blast spending time with everyone at home. Why does time have to fly when you’re having fun?!
Luckily, I’ll get to see my parents and some friends again this coming weekend. I’m heading to DC on Friday, where I’ll be running the Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon on Saturday. I can’t believe it’s here! My friend who was originally running it with me ended up with a knee injury, so it looks like I’ll be running the race solo. To say I’m nervous would be a complete understatement. I have to do some research before I leave to make sure I pack all of my race necessities, and I desperately need a new playlist. Any recommendations are welcome!
My morning started with a hot cup of matcha green tea. Has anyone heard of this before? As a green tea lover, I was immediately intrigued when I saw a good deal for it on Groupon. I had no idea what matcha was, so I looked it up online and read lots of reviews about it.
Matcha is whole tea leaves finely ground into powder form. It’s supposed to have additional nutrients and provide more sustainable energy compared to regular tea because you’re actually drinking the tea leaves, as opposed to just drinking the extract from the tea leaves.
The powder isn’t easily dissolved, even in boiling hot water. I usually have to add a tsp of hot water to a serving of matcha and make a paste before adding more water. I honestly have no idea if this tea makes a significant difference in my energy levels. Some days I have more energy when I drink a cup of matcha, but it may be all in my head. It sure tastes good with some stevia though!
I’m off to study for an exam I have tomorrow. Hopefully, the sun comes out today to accompany the 60 degree temp!
