Food Prep, Garlic Gold, & WIAW #11

Good evening, friends!

I’m sorry to say I probably have the most boring What I Ate Wednesday for you!

Let me tell you…I’m the THE WORST at food prep. Not only do I dread cooking in bulk, but I also hate eating leftovers all week long. Even on super busy days, I somehow organize my day so that I have time to cook and eat every single meal at home. Inefficient? Very, but it works for me, so that’s what I usually do.

Yesterday, I was forced to pack all my meals because I had to work at the hospital, head straight to the gym, then go to class until 9:30 at night. Since I didn’t have anything pre-cooked, I stopped by Trader Joe’s in the morning and grabbed some individually packed chicken breasts, a bag of broccoli, and some baby cucumbers to throw in my 6 pack bag.

Luckily, I was able to have breakfast at home, which was the usual egg/egg whites and oatmeal.

My life has changed forever because I added Garlic Gold Parmesan Nuggets to my eggs for the first time.

Vitacost sent me this Garlic Gold to review a while ago, and I immediately became addicted. I started adding it to everything – veggies, meat, and now my eggs. To be honest, when I first received it, I wasn’t that excited because I thought it would have all these weird ingredients in it (I also missed the “organic” label). To my surprise, the only ingredients were “organic garlic, chopped and toasted to crunchy perfection in organic extra-virgin olive oil, organic parmesan cheese (milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes).” Hooooray! This stuff has some BOLD flavor, and I can definitely taste it with just a light sprinkle. Garlic + parmesan cheese? Can’t go wrong with that combo!

I just discovered that Garlic Gold also makes other products, so I’ll definitely be giving those a try the next time I make a Vitacost order.

My next few meals basically looked like this, except some had cucumbers instead of broccoli, and my third meal didn’t have a slice of Ezekiel bread. How exciting… ;)

I literally had no time to spare all day, so I ate most of my meals while walking from one place to the next. Now that’s efficiency!

I went to one of Penn’s gyms for the first time yesterday, since it was close to CHOP and my class. Although it wasn’t the main gym, I was expecting something better than what I experienced. They didn’t have a great selection of equipment, so I had to improvise my back and bicep workout. I probably won’t go back there, but I still want to check out the school’s main gym. I heard it’s supposed to be pretty nice!

When I got to class, I refueled with a shake and a banana. I didn’t snap a picture, but I’m pretty sure you know what that looks like. ;)

I was so excited to get home after class and to finally enjoy a warm meal!

Are you guys sick of seeing this meal yet? I’m definitely not sick of eating it yet. :) I also enjoyed some citrus Kombucha. Sooo good!

My night ended with some egg whites with salsa and a handful of raw almonds.

Like I said, not the most exciting day of eats, but I’m happy that I didn’t skip any meals. I experimented with a couple of recipes this past weekend, so I’ll be sharing those soon! Turkey sloppy joes, anyone?! Yuuum.

I should probably pay attention in class now…whoops. Have a good night!

Question of the day:
What’s your favorite seasoning?

I usually just season my meats and veggies with salt, pepper, and garlic powder/minced garlic, but now these garlic parmesan nuggets are my favorite!

    • That seasoning sounds good! I don’t have a Costco near me, but maybe I can get it the next time I’m home. Citrus is my favorite flavor..I got it at Whole Foods!!

  1. I’m a garlic FREAK. I have always wanted to try Garlic Gold. I almost bought some with a credit Swanson Vitamins gave me but there were too many other goodies I ended up getting that were cheaper per item so I could try more stuff as part of my credit.
I am so not sick of seeing your pad thai dinner. It looks amazing each time!
Love salsa and eggs :) it’s better than ketchup and eggs IMO.
